My years of teaching have proven that the half hour private lesson is the best value for the student. An hour lesson can be beneficial, but might not be right for all students. After a brief interview, we can decide if it would work for you. To get the greatest return on the lesson, you must practice at least 30 minutes (sixty minutes with an hour lesson) a day for at least six days between lessons. Again, to get the most out of the practice time, it needs to be all at one sitting. Breaking up the time into three or more sessions per day does not yield the same results. Information and assignments are based on your investment of three (or six) hours of practice in the intervening week. Spending less time practicing will not yield satisfactory results and will slow the learning process.
Vacations, family trips, job requirements, and other opportunities may require you to miss a lesson. I understand. Although I require a minimum of 24 hours notice to reschedule a lesson, knowing weeks ahead of time allows us to schedule an additional lesson at a time that is convenient for the both of us. Emergencies do happen and it may cause you to miss a lesson. Please call me as soon as you are able to explain the circumstances.
If you fail to notify me, the lesson will be lost. You may cancel lessons completely at any time. You will forfeit two lessons, the balance will be returned less any amount for instruments, books, and accessories you received. At your discretion, you may use the two forfeited lessons before you leave.
